At Majic Paints, we carry paint products for almost all of your domestic and commercial needs. However, we do not allow our wide variety of line-ups to minimize our capacity to specialize. For example, our Farm line of paints includes an entire section of tractor, truck and implement enamel. Rustkill primer is the perfect base for tractor, truck and implement enamel and keeps your paint looking good for years to come.
Agricultural Equipment and Anti-Corrosive Paint
Everyone in the agriculture industry understands that their equipment is going to get scratched, dinged and chipped relatively often. In and of itself, cosmetic damage is not really a big deal. Apply a little touch-up paint and you’re good to go.
On the other hand, here at Majic Paint we also understand that sometimes you just don’t have time to get to those touch-up jobs until after harvest or the end of branding season. The problem for you is that those dings and scratches begin to rust. A little rust doesn’t hurt anything, but if it goes too long without treatment, rust can really do a number on a piece of equipment.
Even neglected equipment can be salvaged and our tractor, truck and implement enamel products can help you put an end to the oxidation.
How Apply Anti-Rust Paint
The most important aspect of applying anti-rust paint is the preparation. It’s critical that you get rid of the rust. If it’s a small exposed spot, you can probably accomplish what you need to with a little sandpaper. However, for bigger jobs, you are going to need to grind or cut off the rust. If the rust is pervasive, you may have to remove a whole panel and weld in a new one. Thorough sanding and buffing will ensure you have a good surface for paint the paint to adhere to.
Regardless of the method you choose, it’s critical that you remove all the rust. Some people make the mistake of thinking that if there is still paint covering an area, there can’t be rust. That’s not the case. Look for bumps and bubbles and textured areas. Those are an indication of rust under the surface of the paint.
Grind off the rust and the damaged paint and clean the area good with a rag and some gasoline. Allow the gas to evaporate, then dab Rustkill on with a tight pore sponge with a firm edge. Apply a thin coat so that it doesn’t drip or run.
Allow it to dry until it is tacky, then dab on a second coat. Applying the second coat while the first is still tacky will give you a smooth finish. After priming with Rustkill, apply tractor, truck and implement enamel over the area like you normally would. View the technical bulletin for more information.
