Majic Tractor, Truck, & Implement Enamel is your best friend when restoring your old tractor. Tractors are tough, hardworking and dependable. It’s important to perform the proper maintenance to keep your tractor working properly. It’s also important to let your tractor shine like it did when you first brought it home. Here are some tips when using Majic Tractor, Truck, & Implement Enamel after you’re done priming and starting on your topcoat.
• Use Majic Tractor, Truck, & Implement Enamel.
• Add 1/2 pint of Majic Catalyst Hardener to each gallon of paint (16:1). Mix thoroughly. Allow it to sit approximately 20 minutes before using. The hardener will have a pot life of about 8 hours. As a result, only add hardener to the amount of paint that you anticipate using with the 8 hours. If you need to extend the life of the paint with the hardener you can put it in a refrigerator for up to 8 hours. Let the paint come to room temperature before using it. Using Majic Catalyst Hardener will improve the mar resistance, reduce the dry time, and slighly increase the gloss. Because it does increase the gloss, using the Hardener in the Flat Black will add a sheen to the finish. Any unused Catalyst Hardener will last up to a year. Make sure the lid is tightly sealed. Store in a cool, dry place.
• Reducer can be used with the Catalyst to spray the Tractor, Truck, & Implement Enamel. The cup gun tip size should be the same as the primer: 0.013-0.017 with a gun pressure of 30-50 psi. Use only enough Reducer to allow the product to be sprayed. Up to 1-pint per gallon.
• If Majic Reducer is not available, you can add up to 10% Naphtha, but it may put the product over the VOC limit allowed and increase the dry time.
• Majic Tractor, Truck, & Implement Enamel has a lower VOC limit than most enamels. The higher solids, cause the paint to be thicker and cover more area.
• Apply the primer and the topcoat using a single light coat. Do not “tack spray”. Majic Tractor, Truck, & Implement Enamel covers more area with less paint. Using too much paint will slow the dry time. When brushing or rolling make sure each coat is no more than 3.0 mils wet.
• Let each coat dry a minimum of 24 hours between applications under ideal weather conditions of 77° F and 50% relative humidity. The higher the temperature and humidity, the slower the dry will be. Lightly sand between coats using 350 grit sandpaper or scotch pad. Do not paint or allow tractor to dry in direct sunlight. Do not allow the metal that is being painted to become hot. If the paint is not dry-through, do not expose the paint to rain or dew. Moisture could reduce the gloss.
• The painted surface is ready for additional coats of paint, when your nail will not penetrate the paint coating. Not waiting the appropriate dry time before applying the next coat may cause the finish to blister or crack.
• Apply up to 2 coats of the Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamel.
